The Premise

God has a plan for our lives including prosperity in our financial affairs.

  • Jeremiah 29:11, "I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope."
  • John 10:10, "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."

God controls events and knows the end from the beginning.

  • Isaiah 46:9-10, "I am God, and there is not one like me, declaring the end from the beginning. . ."

Therefore, decisions based on spiritual values and insight will take you down the right path.

  • Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 3:5-6

Un-biblical attitudes about wealth are spiritually destructive. 

They represent a departure from the plans God has made for our prosperity and are like building on the sand.

  • 1 Timothy 6:6-11, 17-19
  • The result is that financial issues have a chokehold on our:
    • Families
    • Churches
    • Ministries

Reasons to save and invest

  • Some good reasons. . .
    • Provide for your family (1 Timothy 5:8)
    • Provide for the future (Proverbs 30:24-25, Genesis 41:34-46)
    • Provide an inheritance (Proverbs 13:22)
  • And some bad ones. . .
    • To get rich (1 Timothy 6:9-10)
